Become part of the Why Not Bus family! Laugh your ass off with your new friends, share funny experiences or bust out the red cups for some competitive party fun. We encourage everyone to be who they want to be! Share a secret or open up a little! Experience true freedom hundreds of kms from the real world!

Feeling creative? Get your master chef on and cook together in our fully equipped kitchen. With nearly twice the duration of similar tours you don’t need to stress about early starts and spending all of your time stuck in a bus. We take a chilled out approach to travelling and aim to spend as much time as possible enjoying the beaches and incredible scenery this coastline has to offer.

After 12 fully guided days exploring the East Coast up to Airlie Beach on the Why Not Bus you will travel to Magnetic Island via public bus. Camp (included) or stay in Dorms (at added cost) at Base Magnetic Island.

With a kitchen, fridge, snorkelling gear, games, tents, sleeping bags and mattresses on board all you need to bring is yourself, a sense of adventure and the desire to see the real Australia.

Extras

To save you $$$’s we have kept the road trip price low giving you the option to add additional activities along the way.

– Accommodation and National park fees included; We camp throughout the trip at a mixture of holiday and bush campsites. Accommodation and national park fees are included in the trip price. (*Occasionally during school holidays or extreme weather you may be required to pay an extra on top of the trip price for emergency alternative accommodation options

– Food; At the beginning of each trip we all put in $70 into a ‘food fund’. This is then used to buy ingredients that make up the delicious feasts we eat along the way. On average you can expect to spend between $5 to $10 a day for food.

– Sleeping bag/ Mattress/tent rental; To cover cleaning and repair costs, these can be rented for the duration of the trip for $10per person each (payable when the trip starts). Our tents accommodate 2-3 people.

Itinerary

Day 1 Goldy to Noosa
9.30am pickup at Buds in Surfers, meet and greet your new travel mates and head to Aldi to do some shopping! Then drive to Noosa where you can explore the upmarket beach front, rent a surf board, or walk through the National Park. Tonight we make our first camp at Eumundi show grounds. Cook dinner and get to know your friends with some beers, fun and games. (Campsite)
Day 2 - Eumundi Markets to noosa
Head to the famous Eumundi Markets then spend the day in Noosa relaxing on the beach, Surfing or kayaking the everglades (added cost) tonight return to your campsite and enjoy another family dinner and games. (Campsite)
Day 3 - noosa and rainbow beach
Today we drive to Rainbow Beach stopping at various locations along the way. This afternoon we check in for our Fraser Island 4×4 tour starting tomorrow. Walk up to the Carlo Sand Blow or hit the bar at Dingos. (Hostel accomodation)
Day 4 - Fraser
Get up early and pack your 4×4, you’re off to Fraser Island with Dingos tag along, whether driving or in the passenger seat your bound to have the time of your life. Explore the many attractions on the island and camp in the purpose built campsite overnight. (campsite)
Day 5 - fraser
Spend a full day exploring the Island (Campsite)
Day 6 - fraser back to rainbow
Today you complete your Fraser tour and return to rainbow beach for your tour wind up party at dingos bar. (Hostel Accomodation)
Day 7 - Esperance to the nullarbor

Hit the road and travel north then east on the worlds longest straight road.

Day 8 - Airlie beach
Hit the road early and drive north passing through McKay. Cool off with a swim at the local pool or try cable skiing at McKay wake park (extra cost, min numbers required) tonight stay at the iconic Leap Hotel campsite. (campsite)
Day 9 - Airlie beach and whitsundays
Today we drive to the scenic Airlie Beach where you can start (optional Boat tours) explore the town together and visit the Lagoon for a swim. Tonight experience Airlie Beaches famous nightlife (campsite accomodation at Base Airlie Beach) (campsite)
Day 10 - airlie beach and whitsundays
Try one of the many activities available in Airlie Beach, Boat cruises, Jetski tours, scenic flights, Great Barrier Reef dive and snorkel tours. Challenge yourself with the famous Honey eater hike in Conway National Park. Meet for a family dinner. (campsite accomodation)
Day 11 -Arlie beach and whitsundays
Optional Whitsundays sail/ Free day in Airlie Beach then meet for a family dinner
Day 12 - Airlie beach and whitsundays
Optional Sail/ Free day in Airlie Beach. Tonight we meet for our final goodbye dinner. Tomorrow you may return to Gold Coast or continue to Cairns Via Magnetic Island.
Day 13 - magnetic island
Say goodbye to your Why Not Bus guide and embark on a self guided trip to Magnetic Island with the remainder of your travel mates. Camp at Base Magnetic Island and hire a car (optional extra) or explore the island by local bus. (campsite) (includes Transport on Greyhound or Premier Bus and Magnetic Island Ferry)
Day 14 - magnetic island
Free day to Explore Magnetic island, keep an eye out for Koalas on the (recommended forts walk). camp and party at Base (campsite)
Day 15 - to cairns
Ferry back to Townsville and take your connecting bus to Cairns. (cairns accommodation not included) say goodbye to your new friends or check into a hostel together. and continue the party!
